Functional Safety Test Engineer for Embedded Systems (f/m/d)* 

Location: Karlsruhe, Germany | Full-time | Permanent position

Would you like to test embedded systems and contribute to the verification and validation of safety-critical software? Are you interested in functional safety, embedded software testing, and technically challenging customer projects in an innovation-driven environment? Then you've come to the right place! 

As a Functional Safety Test Engineer for Embedded Systems (f/m/d) at Hitex, you will play an active role in shaping the quality and safety of embedded solutions. As part of an experienced team, you will be involved in projects for international customers and help ensure that our systems are safe, reliable, and up to date. You will have the opportunity to leave your mark on exciting embedded projects across a range of industries including automotive, railway and industrial automation.

Your tasks:

  • Carry out static and dynamic software testing in the field of embedded systems, with a focus on functional safety.
  • Plan and estimate testing efforts for customers and internal projects in collaboration with the team.
  • Set up and configure test environments, including test tools, compilers, and necessary working documents.
  • Create and review test reports to document the results.
  • Communicate with service partners and customers to coordinate activities and gather feedback.
  • Analyze and solve problems during test execution, for example, by reviewing implementation, test cases, or specifications.
  • Verify and validate software in accordance with safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508 etc.
  • Perform code and design reviews for safety-critical systems.

Your qualifications:

  • Completed training as a technician, a degree in engineering such as electrical engineering or information technology or a comparable qualification.
  • Practical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and measurement technology, ideally with a focus on embedded systems.
  • Good programming skills, preferably in C/C++, and initial experience with embedded software.
  • Ideally, knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop testing and version control systems (e.g. SVN).
  • Very good knowledge of German and English.
  • Initial professional experience (1-3 years or more) in electrical engineering, information technology or a related field.
